Craig Lloyd is the Orange County Optimist Club president, the organization that organizes Hog Day. He spearheads sponsorship, advertising, and promotion, including the Pigs on Parade. Craig's Hog Day journey began over 30 years ago, winning a design contest and later leading the event. He is the driving force behind Hog Day's success and is affectionately referred to as the "Godfather of Hog Day".
He is a delight to work with, always wears a smile, and if you find anyone who loves their community more than Craig, April will buy you your first BBQ sandwich at Hog Day.
Please express your gratitude for his tireless efforts when you see him around.
Eric Garrison is a multi-talented tech professional who has been part of the Hog Day team since 2016. As the Tech Manager and Car Show Manager, Eric played a pivotal role in modernizing and streamlining operations for this year's event. Eric and his team focused on implementing cutting-edge automation solutions, particularly in creating highly secure sponsor and vendor forms with integrated payment systems. This initiative significantly improved the efficiency and security of the event's administrative processes.
In his professional life, Eric is the owner of WTE SOLUTIONS (WTE.NET), a company specializing in developing web technologies, automations, and AI-powered tech stacks for clients. His expertise in these areas has proven invaluable to the Hog Day organization.
Eric is also a founder of MOBLZ.com, a platform that manages food truck schedules, events, and car shows. This background made him the perfect fit to take over management of the Hog Day car show, where he has applied his technical know-how to enhance the event experience.
Throughout his years of involvement with Hog Day, Eric has contributed in various capacities, including sponsorship coordination. Adding a touch of creativity to his technical prowess, Eric and his team design a unique office pig each year, often drawing inspiration from popular franchises like Marvel or Star Wars.
Teepa and her family have lived in Orange County near Camp Chestnut Ridge for over 30 years.
Teepa went to both Duke and UNC-CH. She ran multiple Girl Scout troops and organized Council-Wide Camporees for over 20 years.
Her non-profit, Snow Approach Foundation, located at 129 E King St. is where folks will pick up their packets, T-shorts and coupons.
Starting last year, together with her daughter, Amanda Snow Bulgarelli, and other members of the Hog Day Team, led the effort to find and coordinate volunteers to make Hog Day run smoothly, especially the BBQ sales area, stage area, and information tent!
When not doing Hog Day, Teepa is a dementia care specialist with over 45 years of experience. She is the founder of Positive Approach to Care, a company that offers programs and training around the world on dementia and helping when someone is experiencing brain changes.
Amanda Snow Bulgarelli grew up in Efland and Hillsborough and spent many Hog Day celebrations as a volunteer. Her favorite memory of Hog Day was the Ham Hock Throwing Contest that she ran as a teenager, with a GIANT ham hock, lots of baby oil, and muscle. While she was away for many years in New York and Michigan teaching and building a family, she is now back in Hillsborough and serves with Snow Approach Foundation as the Volunteer Coordinators for Hog Day. Most days, she works with her mom, Teepa Snow, and their family and organizations to change the culture of care for all brain changes into a more positive place through training and education locally and all over the world.
My name is April Thompson, and I am the vendor coordinator for Hog Day. I am thrilled to share my passion for Hillsborough and the community that shaped me to be the person I am today. I have lived in Hillsborough my entire life and acquired my love of this town from my Father who worked for the Town of Hillsborough for over 20 years. I don't know of anyone who loved Hillsborough more than my Daddy. He taught me the meaning of community, being good to others and loving thy neighbor. 2024 was my first year truly leading the team in vendor coordination after stepping into the role in 2023 and it was an incredible experience working with a dedicated team to bring in amazing vendors. I purposefully selected each vendor by exploring our local scene, ensuring we showcased the best products on the day of our event. My other duties consist of managing vendor recruitment, guiding them through applications, overseeing permits, and coordinating on event day. I also handle the marketing aspect with the "vendor reveal" posts and have been taking on secretary duties as well. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me to help make Hog Day memorable for my community. I love you Hillsborough!
This BBQ wizard has been conjuring mouthwatering magic for over 10 years, and we're not sure what we'd do without him. When he's not tending to the pit, Doug is either saving the world or rocking out on the drums with his band 'More Cowbell' - because who doesn't love rock n' roll and BBQ? With 50 years of drumming experience, Doug's got the beats and the BBQ skills to make our taste buds dance. We're ridiculously lucky to have him on our team, so let's give it up for our favorite little drummer boy who keeps the pit hot and the sandwiches flowing!
We love you little Dougie!
